Lorraine (“Rain”) Stippec's dance training began in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 2½ with The Professional Dance Center. Her training included Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre Dance, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Acro while attending the studio. Rain joined the competition group at 4 and competed regionally and nationally until she graduated high school in 2009. She has won numerous high score awards and scholarships on the regional and national levels for herself as well as the students she has choreographed for. Rain has attended intensives, workshops and residencies with artists such as River North Dance Company, Ballet Master Kirk Peterson, Jeff Hancock, AshleyLiane Dance Company, Mike Minery, Gregory Filler, and many other renowned choreographers at regional and national conventions. She has been assistant teaching since she was 13 and began teaching classes in all techniques to all ages and abilities at 15. Her choreography has been displayed for community theatre companies such as Bravo Theatre Group and Maryland Heights Community Theatre. She has also choreographed and performed for the Fox Kids Christmas shows, Dancin’ in the Streets, International Human Rights Conferences, and Webster University’s Creation’s Concerts. Arts for Life, St. Louis Chapter, nominated Rain for Best Featured Dancer in a Musical (2008) and for Best Choreography for a Musical (2010). Rain also received the first art-education scholarship awarded by Arts for Life (2012). Professional credits include The Muny’s The King and I as Uncle Thomas (2012), various works for the Fabulous Fox Theatre as a Fox Tellerette, choreography for Insight Theatre Company, and charity performances at the Parkinson’s Foundation Fashion Show and the Variety Club Dinner with the Stars as a Yvonne Meyer Dancer. She will graduate from Webster University in December earning her Bachelors in Fine Arts for Dance with a Modern emphasis. As a part of Webster University’s Dance Ensemble, she has performed choreography by Michael Uthoff, Beckah Reed, Maggi Dueker, Kathy Diehl, Alicia Graf-Mack, Antony Tudor, Antonio Douthit & Kirven Boyd, and Heather Brown. Along with featured solos, Rain was also selected as rehearsal director for Michael Uthoff’s “Hasta La Vista Baby” (2012). Other Webster performances include Bachelors of Fine Arts Concerts (2010-2011), Dancing in the Streets (2011), and the American College Dance Festival (2011). She is thrilled to be a part of The Movement Arts Center and is thankful for the opportunity to pass on to future generations her passion for the art of dance.
